Mardy's response

Good research Ashley. I didn't know that teen aged pregnancy rates have gone down. I thought that they were increasing much drastically than that. Your citations were good and you took good notes. Good job

Grace response

One thing you might want to do is put a tile on your articles . I couldn't tell them apart . your citation was great , easily found. You had a great source of information. Your response are great . The color seems are great

Danica's Response

Ashley- Your citations are complete, and the notes and the response titles are the same as the titles to the citations. The color of the response is the same color as the 5 paragraph essay, and the color of the notes are different from the color of the 5 paragraph essay and response. The notes are in full sentences, which makes it easier to read, but it does not have to be in full sentences. You had a lot of good information from your search. I suggest taking a little fewer notes next time haha. (:

Teen Pregnancy #1 Response

I think that this site gave a lot of information and it taught a lot about teen pregnancies. If someone wants to know all of the hazards or consequences this would be a good site to learn. I also thought that it can be a pretty scary thing to be pregnant at such a young age. It makes me want to learn more!!

Teen Pregnancy #1

On the internet I found some interesting information on teen pregnancy. This site states that teen pregnancy is an important issue because there are many health risks for the baby and even the mother. Some of the risks are health social and emotional. Women in their teens have a very high risk of complications such as premature labor or socioeconomic consequences. This site says that from 1991 to 2005 the teen pregnancy rate declined from 60 out of 1000 teenagers to 40.5 out of 1000, now in 2006 it has increased again to 42 out of 1000. The highest rate is the Hispanic women which is 83 out of 1000 in the year 2006. Some more of the health risks can be low weight which is important during pregnancy because that means that the baby is growing and developing. Having this problem can lead to babies with organs that are not fully developed. This means that the baby can have problems like bleeding in the brain, respiratory distress syndrome and intestinal problems. A problem for the mother could be poor eating habits than older women and could cause them not to take their multivitamins which they need to take during their pregnancy, which gives them all the nutrition that the baby needs. Teens are also more likely to smoke, drink alcohol and do drugs, which causes major health problems for the baby. Children born to teenage mothers are more likely to have less of an academic acheivement because of the health problems from low nutrition, they have a higher risk of abuse and neglect, if the baby is a boy it has a 13% chance that it may be incarcerated later in life, and girls have a 22% chance that they may be a teenage mother too.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign Response

I think that this campaign is doing a pretty good thing. It is also a hard thing because teenagers have a mind of their own and they will most likely do what they want. If they are also pressured, there is more of a chance that these things will keep happening. I think that they are right when they say that they have a lot of work to do. It can be a tough thing knowing some people who have gotten pregnant when they are so young and they are not ready for that responsibility and for the money problems. I hope that they are successful because the numbers for teenage pregnancy are higher than they should be.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign

On google I have found a teen pregnancy prevention campaign. What they do is exclusively work to prevent teen pregnancy in America. They plan to reduce it by one third over the next decade. They have reached there goal and are now on their second decade. There are however some problems that get in the way of their goals. Here are some of the problems: about one third of Americas teens get pregnant by the age of twenty, the rate in the United states are still the highest among other countries. There is evidence according to the site that the progress is slowing. Studies show that in thirteen states the rate has increased between 2003 and 2004. Some groups such as the large growing Latino population, rates of teen pregnancy and birth are far above the national average and are declining far more slowly than the overall rates. This means there is a lot of work to do for this campaign.
Even though teens have been making progress, parents have not. About half of pregnancies are unplanned. Unplanned pregnancies are very costly and unfortunate for many people. Another major consequence would be abortion. Many people may have strong feelings about this, but also have some reasoning when it comes to young people having to face this challenge. They still plan to expand their mission, to prevent teen pregnancies and reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies in the U.S. among adults especially where a large amount of the teen pregnancies occur.
